Description

Manufacturing USA Day at HTR for Manufacturers

Manufacturing USA (aka NNMI, National Network for Manufacturing Innovation), will have embedded MEP (Manufacturing Extension Partnership) or other representatives visiting for a day at HTR (High Tech Rochester) presenting on their institute.

Manufacturing USA is a network of research institutes in the US that focus on developing and commercializing manufacturing technologies through public-private partnerships between US industry, universities, and federal government agencies. This day targets the introductions of small to mid-size manufacturers in the Finger Lakes region to Manufacturing USA experts and the institutes.

Beyond the focused presentations, have a one-on-one discussion with Manufacturing USA representatives. To schedule, please mark the representatives of choice during registration.

MFG USA Representatives
Advanced Composites (IACMI) - Jesse Bonfeld
Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) is committed to accelerating development and adoption of cutting-edge manufacturing technologies for low-cost, energy-efficient manufacturing of advanced polymer composites for vehicles, wind turbines, and compressed gas storage developing innovative business relationships that address challenges in composite material formulation, process development, modeling and simulation, and workforce training and education. Jesse Bonfeld has built a track record that delivers on a passion for technology-enabled innovation over the last 33 years by matching customer needs with sustainable and profitable new business opportunities. His experience spans the defense, medical device, oil and gas, specialty chemical, semiconductor, and aerospace industries, and he has played a significant role in a variety of technology-led innovations and initiatives, including two successful startups of his own. He has also published numerous articles in various trade publications on the application of existing technology and product innovations to new technology challenges

Digital Mfg Technologies (DMDII) / Additive Manufacturing (America Makes) - Bill Murray
Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (DMDII) encourages factories across the US to deploy digital manufacturing and design technologies, so those factories can become more efficient and cost-competitive. America Makes (Additive Manufacturing) is a national accelerator and the nation's leading collaborative partner for technology research, discovery, creation, and innovation in additive manufacturing and 3D printing. Both institutes are represented in NY through RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology). Bill Murray was the executive director for CITEC (MEP center serving the North Country region of NY) before joining ESD (Empire State Development). He has also done humanitarian work for the North County Mission of Hope in Nicaragua.

Smart Manufacturing (CESMII) - Craig Dory
Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII) looks to radically improve the precision, performance and efficiency of US advanced manufacturing by spurring US innovation, sustainability and competitiveness. Organized to provide manufacturing members with resources to achieve goals of Smart Manufacturing by lowering the risk of adopting new technology. In addition to creating an environment for members to collaborate, learn and share best practices, members have access to an open and secure digital infrastructure, test-beds, R&D, implementation services, workforce training resources and a solution marketplace all orchestrated to accelerate success in Smart Manufacturing. Craig Dory is VP of Membership & Director of the CESMII Northeast Regional Manufacturing Center hosted at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition (SMLC). Previously, he was Director for Business Development for the Center for Automation Technologies and Systems (CATS) at RPI.

AIM Photonics - Terry Clas
American Institute for Manufacturing Integrated Photonics (AIM Photonics) is working to accelerate the transition of integrated photonic solution from innovation to manufacturing-ready deployment in systems spanning commercial and defense applications. Terry Clas spent 27 years at Eastman Kodak; 13 years in their R&D organization, leading microelectronics processes development and 14 years in the Chief Marketing Office - New Business Development Group. Terry also worked as the Executive VP of Marketing at VMP Nutrition, LLC and Corporate VP, New Business Development and General Manager of the Industrial Inspection Division at Freedom Scientific, LLC.
